Dear Friend of Heidelberg Seminary,
Please allow me the opportunity to share with you about Heidelberg Theological Seminary. The Lord has given us the opportunity to pursue the important work of training men, both in the U.S. and abroad, for the ministry. In recent years we have seen significant growth in all of our programs. This fall we have 15 students in the MDiv. program. Eight of these students are preparing to serve as ministers in the RCUS. We are also seeing more ministers enrolled in our DMin. program. As can be seen, the Seminary has enjoyed tremendous blessings from the Lord!
One of the many programs that Heidelberg Seminary offers is to train men internationally for the ministry. In conjunction with this, Dr.’s Koerner and Morgan were able to speak to 45 pastors about the Reformed faith and teach classes to another 20 students in the Philippines this past summer. This fall we are providing two courses to the men in the Philippines, teaching about 15-20 men online.
Additionally, the opportunity to train men in Africa is also expanding. We are offering two online courses to seven different groups of men. Over 80 men have signed up for these courses, expressing a desire for additional training to help them in the ministry.
These are just some of the opportunities that the Seminary has had to grow and the amazing steps that we have taken. Actually, we should say, in what the Lord has provided and given to the Seminary to accomplish. We believe that it is now time to take the next major step and plan for our own building. Trinity Reformed Church has graciously provided land on the same campus that will allow the Seminary to pursue its own building This has come after sharing a building with Trinity Reformed Church for many years which, due to the Lord’s blessings, we have outgrown.
With this letter we are excited to announce a capital campaign with the goal of raising $2.5 million to erect a building for Heidelberg Seminary!
We praise God for all that He has done, and we rely on friends of the Seminary to make this possible through both your prayers and financial support. On behalf of the board, faculty and students of HTS, I would like to visit with you about the proposed building project and for your consideration in support of this exciting endeavor. Some time in the next month I plan to call and visit with you about your potential involvement in this campaign.
The fall semester is in full swing. We have three full-time faculty, one part time, and several adjunct faculty teaching the courses and providing the necessary administrative support. In addition, we have two staff to assist the faculty and take care of the required administrative duties.
For now, please pray for the work of the seminary, its students and faculty. In addition, please pray about the opportunity we have for a new building and how you might be involved.
Having our own building will allow the seminary to continue to grow our program including additional faculty and much needed classroom space. We will also be able to maintain a strong close relationship with Trinity Reformed Church. As staff, students, and board of the Seminary, we are excited about having our own building. Would you join us in praising God for this next exciting step in the growth of the Seminary.
“Sing to the Lord, bless His name; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations His wonders among all peoples.”
Psalm 96:2-3
Sincerely,
Rev. Maynard Koerner, D.Min.
